Warren K. Vest was born in Louisburg, Missouri, in 1935, the son of Orville and Martha Vest. At an early age, Warren’s family moved a few miles to Buffalo, Missouri, where Warren graduated from Buffalo High School in 1953.
Warren enrolled at the University of Missouri in the fall of 1953 to major in Animal Husbandry with plans to carry on the family tradition of being a farmer. At the end of Warren’s first semester, an opportunity arose to manage a shipment of Brahman cattle to Australia. After delivery of the cattle to their new owner in Australia, Warren was provided a ticket to travel on around the world before returning home.
The adventure of world travel enticed Warren to join the United State Air Force in November 1954 to become a pilot. In 1960, while an Air Force pilot, Warren was offered an opportunity to fly for a commercial airline and he accepted.
For the next forty-five years, Warren had a successful career flying for commercial carriers. Forty of those years were with World Airways, where Warren held various positions; including Captain, Chief Pilot, and various Senior and Executive Vice President positions prior to retiring in 2005.
Warren and wife, Ingrid, live in Dublin, California. They have two sons; Tim, born in 1965, and Brian, born in 1972. They also have four granddaughters and one grandson.
